Private label rights (PLR) content refers to items such as articles, reports, blog posts, autoresponder sequences and ebooks that have been written specifically for the purpose of being offered for sale to multiple buyers.
The extent of the rights varies among products, but typically the rights enable the purchasers to claim authorship of the materials. Buyers are encouraged to modify the content in order to gain the most benefit from the materials, as well as to prevent any duplicate content penalties from the search engines.
While PLR rights enable the purchaser to modify the content, additional rights, including master reseller rights, and redistribution rights may be prohibited on some items. In some cases, purchasers are required to modify the content.
Restrictions such as these are instituted in an effort to protect the integrity of the content for the purchasers.
You get what you pay for:
True, this isn’t exactly earth-shattering news, but so many site owners are willing to throw up sub-par content, simply because it was cheap. We’ve worked with a lot of writers over the years, and I can say with all sincerity that all writers are NOT created equal. Starting with a quality article, written by a native speaker will always yield the best results.
Make the content your own:
There is no rule stating HOW you need to use your PLR content, so use your imagination. Split the content up and use it in autoresponders, ezines, create “Quik Tips” to place throughout your website, create whitepapers, reports, etc. Spice up your PLR with royalty-free stock photos. For the truly adventurous, create an audio recording or a YouTube video with the content to create viral marketing products.
Make the PLR pay for itself by leveraging affiliate products.
Are you using a report on weddings? Conduct a quick Google search and find some high-paying programs for brides. Embed these links into the articles for best results.
Use free resources:
Once you’ve created your own version of PLR articles, submit them to free article directories or offer your customers reprint rights. You may want to create sales materials for other products you are selling. There are literally tons of possibilities.
Social media = Free Publicity:
Don’t have a lot of money to spend on marketing? Use social media instead. Twitter is all the rage these days, and there are many ways you can share your content with Twitter users. Wordpress has a number of plugins that allow your blog posts to automatically be posted to your Twitter account. TwitterFeed.com allows you to submit your website’s feed directly through your Twitter account. Both options allow you to share your content in real time.
Create one (or several) Squidoo lenses:
It doesn’t take long to do this, but a well-written lens will drive traffic to your site quickly and easily. Make sure you add images.
Enable your Facebook and LinkedIn pages with your Twitter account.
There are some great app’s that can tie these all together. Work smarter, not harder!
Create multiple modalities:
Web users like to get their content in different ways – different strokes for different folks, as they say. Consider offering content as an article, an audio, and a video. Offer popular ebooks in audio format, and create a short promotional video for them to upload to YouTube. Video is quickly approaching the popularity of article submissions (which you should also be doing).
